High School Flex  •  College Choice / Homestay

  • Age: min.16 max. 18 years old upon arrival
  • Duration: 1 academic year, 2 academic years, 1 academic semester, term (+/- 12 weeks), short term (4 to 8 weeks)
  • Arrival: August, September, January, April - varies depending on program duration (check with WEP for program dates)

How does the College Choice program with a homestay work?
The College Choice program allows students the opportunity to live in the UK and enroll at a highly-rated UK college. They choose which college they wish to attend and get to choose the subjects that suit them best, within the A-level options or vocational courses offered at the college. They can even opt for a two-year program and complete a full British high school qualification. They can do all this while living in a caring homestay.  
For what type of student is this program a good fit?
  • Students who want to know the location of their placement before enrolling 
  • Students who want to know the school they will be attending well in advance 
  • Student who want to study abroad for a full academic or even two academic years abroad
Accommodations
Even though homestay families in the UK receive a weekly reimbursement, students stay with a friendly family. There might be more than one international student in the family and participants who have certain allergies or lifestyle preferences (pet allergies, vegans, vegetarians...) can more easily be matched on the Flex program compared to the Classic program (although this may incur an extra cost). Depending on the college, students may need to budget for their own lunch and this cost should be covered by the student’s pocket money. Unless the College requires the participants to go home over the school holidays, the student can choose to stay at the homestay or return home (decision to be made upon enrolment).

Terms of participation
  • Be minimum 16 by 1st September (short term, term and semester) or 16 by 1st July (year program) and maximum 18 years old at start of program

  • Have travel insurance covering sickness, accidents, repatriation and third party liability
