How does the Classic+ program work?

The Classic + school program is an alternative to the Classic program for students who have a preference for their placement. At the time of enrollment, the student chooses one of four options offered in the Classic + program: England, England / South, Scotland or Edinburgh and they will have a better chance of living in the area they have chosen. With the Classic + option students can be placed anywhere in the chosen area, however it does not guarantee a specific location.

MyEducation will do everything possible to find a family and school in the preferred area. It is important to know that a proactive search for a placement within that area does not guarantee placement there. Even if most Classic + requests are confirmed at the time of placement, if in the end the host family does not reside in the option initially chosen, the supplement will not be charged, and the Classic school program fee will apply.

For what type of student is this program a good fit?

  • Students who want to indicate a program preference even if it cannot be guaranteed
  • Students that do not wish to participate in a full academic year program
  • Students who are passionate about British culture and history

Accommodations

Participants will live with a friendly and welcoming family and like other family members, they will share the family’s everyday life, participate in activities, and adapt to the family rules as if it were their own. British homestay families receive a monthly reimbursement, and students should be flexible regarding the composition and location (they can have children or not, live in a house or in an apartment, etc.). Students stay at the homestay during local school holidays.

Choose your area

England

England/South

With this option, the student has a higher chance of being placed in England. The country covers about 62% of the island of Great Britain and offers vibrant, multi-cultural cities, green landscapes, historic sites, beaches and a modern culture. With the Classic + option students can be placed anywhere in England.

With this option, the student has a higher chance of being placed in the South of England, an area with an array of places to visit, breath-taking countryside and miles of stunning coastline. Placement could be in any of the following counties: Somerset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Essex, Surrey, Kent, Hampshire, East Sussex, West Sussex, Dorset, Devon or Cornwall.

Scotland

Edinburgh

With this option, the student has a higher chance of being placed in Scotland. This beautiful Celtic country is bursting with green spaces, lush forests, towering mountains and vast lakes. The Scottish school system differs from the rest of Great Britain’s allowing students to study more subjects. The charming inhabitants are proud of their strong national identity, the Scottish ancestry and the famous, traditional folk music.

With this option, the student has a higher chance of being placed in the city of Edinburgh or surroundings. The capital of Scotland is located in southeastern Scotland and has a population of slightly over half a million inhabitants. This city, that feels old and ancient in the best possible way, is, after London, the most visited city in the UK. A captivating blend of history, culture, and beauty... Note: The Edinburgh option is only available for the August intake.
