The Country

Belgium is where Europe comes together. Belgium is a compact country nestled between Germany, France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and the North Sea. The cosmopolitan nature of Brussels, capital of the European community, has created an open-minded and welcoming attitude towards foreigners. Belgians are known for being humble and welcoming, with a great sense of humour. There is more to Belgium than chocolate and waffles, it is the scene of a very rich cultural past (paintings, architecture) and thrilling present day artistic creativity (exhibitions, music, fashion, comic books, theatre…).

School Life

School Day
The Belgian educational system is one of the most thorough in the world. Expectations are high for the students. Participants will follow classes in a local school from Monday to Friday. Those classes include French, mathematics, biology, geography, physics, history, physical education, foreign Language (Dutch or English)… and optional classes include economics or another language. The school year starts the last week of August and ends the first week of July.

Host family
Gros bisous.”
