Program

The high school program is an opportunity to immerse yourself into French language and culture. This program is for small school groups : share daily life in a French host family and attend a local high school. Depending on the group size and school availability, students may be split up into 2 groups (2 different schools). A weekly excursion or activity will also be arranged on Saturdays.

1. NORMANDY 

Main city: Rouen 
Specialties: cider, camembert cheese, apple pastries ...
Normandy is situated between the Channel and the Paris basin and has been the welcoming harbour of civilizations through the Seine Valley to Paris. It is best known for its coasts, green meadows and cider. The region’s name originates from the Viking Norsemen back in the 9th century and it is officially divided in two parts, “Haute et Basse Normandie” (High and Low).


2. PROVENCE

Main city: Avignon
Specialties: Ratatouille, bouillabaisse, pistou soup, Nougat, olive oil, wine ...
Provence is a geographical region and historical province of southeastern France which extends from the left bank of the lower Rhône River to the west to the Italian border to the east, and is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the south. A sunny and picturesque French area !



School Life
The French educational system is one of the most thorough in the world. Expectations are high towards the students. Participants will attend classes at a local "lycee" from Monday to Friday. These include French, Mathematics, Biology, Geography, Physics, History, Physical Education, Foreign Language (English or German)... and optional classes include Economics or a second Foreign Language. 


Accommodation
Participants will live with a French family. Like family members they will share the family’s everyday life, participate in activities and adapt to the family rules as if it were their own. In France, high school students buy lunch at the school cafeteria, cost related to lunch should be covered by the students pocket money.


Terms of participation
- be min. 14 and max. 18 upon arrival
- Have good academic results
- Have a minimum of 1 year of French lessons
- Have travel insurance covering sickness, accidents, repatriation and third party liability
